The neighborhood

A 1911 plat, rebuilt one lot at a time

Holly Heights goes back a long way: its plat was recorded in 1911 with lettered blocks, and it sits inside town limits. County records show 38 homes, built from 1942 to 2025, many on the avenues named for trees, and no homeowners association.2, 1, 8

The Wake subdivision record shows two Holly Heights plats: 74 lots off S Main St dated 1911, and 52 off Bass Lake Rd dated 1959. Parcels are still described by lettered block, from Block A to Block L.2, 1, 8

Homes span eight decades. The oldest on record dates to 1942; most went up from the 1950s to the 1970s; and seven new homes were finished from 2022 to 2025. Sizes run from 672 to 3,462 heated square feet, with a median near 1,050.1, 8

Many of the 96 parcels have no house: vacant lots, a church and other uses. That makes this a lot-by-lot area, not a planned subdivision.1, 8
